Couples Therapy Minnesota

Your partnership is important, and so it deserves attention and work. At Minnesota Attachment Collective, we offer couples therapy sessions to support you in learning how to communicate openly with one another, deepening your connection, and walking through life transitions together.

Couples Therapy sessions can be a great addition to your individual work, or on its own as you work through different seasons of life together. We specialize in trauma, fertility challenges, pregnancy, postpartum, as well as parenthood- and see couples therapy as a powerful tool in these areas.

While couples therapy is a wonderful resource for bumps in the road, it is also something that you can add into your relationship to strengthen your connection even further.

Relationship Counseling

Couples Therapy is a beautiful thing. Whether you are working through a rough patch, navigating a difficult life transition together, or wanting to strengthen your communication and connection- we are here to help you hold space for it all.

In couples therapy, we have space to:

  • Build effective communication skills

    • Your therapist will work with you to learn and practice communication skills so you and your partner's perspective feel understood, so that arguments feel productive, and opportunities for repair and growth can be met.

  • Learn how to support your partner through tough times

    • Whether they are healing from current or past trauma, working through mental health concerns such as anxiety or depression, or navigating a difficult time in life- going to therapy together can help. Couples counseling can support the partnership in being a place for support and healing, rather than it feeling like a place of disconnection through the tough times.

  • Work through life transitions together

    • The transitions we go through in life can have a significant impact on our relationship. Seasons of life that include moving, job changes, marriage or commitment, family planning, fertility challenges, pregnancy, fostering or adopting, postpartum, parenthood, etc can feel like they've overcome the relationship itself. In therapy, you can explore your feelings together, relate to one another in new and deep ways, and find strength in your partnership as you navigate these next steps together.

  • Partnering in Parenthood

    • Not only can couples counseling be helpful in all of the transitions around becoming parents, but it can also be helpful as you raise your child or children together. Being able to express your feelings and needs, find balance in family roles, and hold space for the sometimes challenging shifts and transitions in your relationship can help you feel like you truly have a partner by your side as you raise your family. Therapy can be a helpful tool in supporting your family.

  • Navigate Family Boundaries

    • Sometimes, relationships with extended families can be tough. This is often more complicated when you add children into the mix. In counseling, you'll get a place to express your emotions, gain awareness of one another's needs, and learn boundaries that can support the entire family system- most importantly- your marriage or relationship.

  • Deepen a long lasting connection

    • Your therapist will help you to hold space for your emotions with one another, be able to communicate your relationship wants and needs, and learn how to implement practices that will support understanding, intimacy, and a loving connection. Couples counseling is not just a place for working on relationship issues- but can be a place to learn about one another and grow as partners.

Support your relationship.

Hear Your Stories

  • From a compassionate perspective, we will hold space to hear your stories and allow each partner to learn more about one another. Therapy can be a place to practice being open and vulnerable with your partner, so they can learn about your experience, and work to hold space for your story.

Support Relationship Skills

  • In couples counseling, we will help you to process your experiences through healthy communication and relationship skills. Here, you can find a new sense of effectiveness in your communication by getting an opportunity to practice them in each session, while also getting specific recommendations of how to practice these communication skills at home. You'll also learn practices around finding balance in family routines, implementing healthy relationship boundaries, and prioritizing time for one another.

Explore Opportunities for Connection

  • We all deserve the love that we are seeking in our relationships. You get to learn what dating means in your marriage or long-term relationship, figure out what makes one another feel loved and supported, and continue to nurture your relationship in the years to come! Couples counseling can be a great place to learn how to bring moments of relationship growth into your everyday lives.
